About

Teresa Capers

I am a South Carolina native, a graduate of The University of South Carolina, and a proud graduate of Liberty University with a Masters in Counseling. I am dually licensed in both North and South Carolina. My training has prepared me to work with various populations to include children, adolescents, and adults who struggle with both mental illness and substance use. It is my belief that each person is a unique individual who is the expert concerning their own life. My approach is strength-based which focuses on individual strengths as opposed to deficits. Each person has inherent strengths that I will help them develop. It is my belief that people have the solutions to their dilemmas lying dormant within themselves self. My therapeutic orientation is eclectic in nature typically blending the most effective benefits of evidence-based modalities that included Solution Focused, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), and Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT). This multi-modality approach allows me the opportunity to employ various techniques from these evidence-based theories such as psycho-educational activities, role plays, thought-stopping techniques, and cognitive behavior. The services I provided included individual therapy, group therapy, and family counseling.
