Kimberly Elder

My name is Kimberly Elder and I am here to assist you in any way I can. I am an empathetic and genuine person who creates a safe space for you to discuss any issues or problems that you may be experiencing in your life. I look forward to helping you feel better, empowering you to make positive changes in your life or to just be a sounding board and your biggest cheerleader. Congratulations on making the decision to bring positive change into your life!
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Missouri who has been working in the helping field over the last 15 years. I have experience working with adults, couples, adolescents and children who were coping with a wide range of concerns including but not limited to: depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, post-traumatic stress disorder, family conflicts, Asperger’s Disorder, parenting issues, identity crisis, LGBT specific problems and concerns, grief and loss, as well as people struggling with Bipolar and Dissociative Identity Disorder (multiple personality disorder).
My counseling technique is warm and accepting. I utilize a personalized approach to counseling which is non-judgmental, and client directed. I often use solution-focused interventions which identifies the obstacles one is experiencing in their life and work with the client to tailor a treatment plan that is specific to their needs.
I use a variety of different interventions depending on each situation. One of the interventions that I use frequently is Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) which provides clients the tools they can use to cope with life stressors, negative thoughts and feelings, interpersonal relationships and dysregulation of emotions. DBT allows the client to be mindful of current emotions and feelings, helps to regulation those emotions by applying distress tolerance techniques. DBT also provides different communication techniques that can be helpful in family conflicts and/or relationship issues.
My approach is specifically tailored to the client’s needs in the moment. Only you as the client can determine the best direction and action to take, I am here to assist you any way I can in your journey of life.
Whether you are seeking change for a healthier happier life, or just need a nonjudgmental, cheerleader that is on your side, I am here to support and empower you any way I can. I look forward to meeting and working with you!
