About

Kelly Papenfus

I am an independently licensed social worker in Ohio with 7 years of experience working as a clinical therapist. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, family issues, career challenges, academia stress, self-esteem issues, productivity/time-management, trauma/secondary trauma, multi-cultural concerns, LGBTQIA+ concerns, work-life balance, and compassion fatigue.

My counseling style is personable, friendly, and interactive. I think it is important that our time together is focused on utilizing your strengths to achieve the results you want. I believe in treating everyone with respect, compassion, and understanding. As a cis, white, therapist, I acknowledge that the privileges associated with my identity can impact therapy. I strive to be culturally competent and an advocate for my clients—empowering them to be their best selves while appreciating their differences. My clinical approaches combine cognitive-behavioral, client-centered, and psychodynamic styles.

It takes courage to seek support and I firmly believe in breaking down mental health stigmas and normalizing care. With any physical disability we treat and see a doctor; I believe our mental health should be seen with the same visibility and acceptance.

Thank you for reading; I look forward to working with you!
