David Cavalleri holds a doctorate in marriage and family counseling from the University of Florida and is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida (MH16023). He is trained to implement narrative-based approaches in counseling, weaving in aspects of solution focused and oppression sensitive models of therapy. David has been working with the LGBTQ+ community since the early 2000’s both in counseling and research settings. He facilitates a monthly suicide support group and monthly sexual trauma support group, and sees clients for a variety of presenting concerns. David is experienced delivering clinical services for presenting concerns such as depression, suicide, anxiety, physical abuse, gender identity, trauma, sexual identity, substance use, emotional abuse, trauma, parenting difficulties, and relational issues. He also develops and manages community research activities in Orlando and Tampa, including federal grants serving people living with HIV and the Men who have Sex with Men (MSM) population. David also conducts workshops on the biology of trauma.
