Is Therapy Secure?


Yes, all records of conversations are encrypted end to end, and stored on a secure HIPAA compliant system. All payments are processed through Stripe, which is a highly secure state of the art financial system.




How Do You Protect My Privacy?


At AYANA your privacy and safety are always the first consideration. We go to great lengths to ensure that you and your data are always kept safe and confidential. Our technology is fully HIPAA compliant and your safety is our #1 priority. All of your chat data is encrypted on the servers, and all communication between our software and the servers is encrypted.




Who are the therapists?


Counselors at AYANA are licensed, trained, experienced, and accredited psychologists (PhD / PsyD), marriage and family therapists (LMFT), clinical social workers (LCSW / LMSW), or licensed professional counselors (LPC). All of them have a Masters Degree or a Doctorate Degree in their field. They have been qualified and certified by their state's professional board after successfully completing the necessary education, exams, training and practice. While their experience, expertise and background vary, they all possess at least 3 years and 2,000 hours of hands-on experience. Click here to learn more about the counselors.




How are the counselors verified?


Our team ensures that every provider we bring to the platform is fully licensed and in good standing. Providers who apply are required to provide proper licensure documentation, proof of identity, and references from other licensed practitioners who have worked with them. We then cross-check their licensure information with their respective state licensing board.




Do I choose my own therapist?


Our proprietary algorithm will analyze the simple intake questions you answer before your first session and automatically match you with a recommended therapist. If for some reason, you feel it isn’t a good fit, you can always request a new counselor.




What kind of areas does AYANA specialize in?


Because we have a large pool of therapists in our network, many of whom have multiple areas of expertise, we service a wide variety of issues including addiction, anxiety, mood disorders, relationship issues, LGBTQ, PTSD, depression and many more.




Once I sign up for therapy, will I have the same therapist?


Absolutely! Your therapist will personally work with you throughout all the days and weeks you are at AYANA. If you want to change therapist, you have the option of choosing another therapist from your match list. All of your information will transfer over making the transition as smooth and as easy as possible.




I signed up. How long until I am matched with a therapist?


You can see your matches right away under "choose therapists." If you are not matched with a provider, contact us and we will trouble shoot it as soon as possible.




What technology do I need to use AYANA?


All you need is your smartphone, tablet, PC or Mac. AYANA will be available as an iOS or Android app or through any internet browser.




How do text/call/video sessions work?


Once you are matched with a counselor, you will be able to use the app to begin communicating with your therapist. There, you can engage in text messages, phone calls, as well as video sessions with your therapist. For text message sessions: In order to have a text message session with your therapist, you must log in to the app. Once you have logged in, you are able to log into the app and text your therapist at any time online! For phone call sessions: In order to have a phone call session with your therapist, you have to schedule a time in advance to make sure that both you and your therapist are available. At the scheduled time, you are able to log in and begin your phone call session with your therapist! This can be done no matter where you are and can be a convenient way to have a chat. For live video sessions: In order to have a live video session with your therapist, you have to schedule a time in advance to make sure that both you and your therapist are available. At the scheduled time, you are able to log in to begin your video session. A prompt will allow you to immediately begin the video session and both you and your therapist will be able to see each other virtually via video chat (similar to Zoom/Skype).




If I cancel my account and want to re-join, will I have the same therapist?


Yes- you will be able to re-join AYANA with the same therapist as long as that therapist is still available.





Therapist FAQs

Are there any costs to join AYANA?


There is no fee to join AYANA! AYANA is based on a national directory where an individual will be matched with someone in their state who can provide tele-mental health services, so we will not be charging therapists for the services they will provide.




What does compensation look like?


Therapists can expect a reliable and competitive income based on current industry rates with an equal 50/50 sharing revenue. We expect to pay therapists electronically every two weeks.
