I live in a Northern Kentucky suburb of Cincinnati and practice in both Ohio and Kentucky. I work with adolescents and adults individually, in couples and also run a group for gay, bisexual and transgender men. I have fairly extensive experience working with people who are dealing with addiction, am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and do quite a bit of work (individually and workshops) around diversity, inclusion and equity. I am particularly passionate about bring my life experiences as an openly gay man to bear with people who are struggling in any way with sexual orientation, gender identification or sexual challenges.
Before becoming a therapist I worked for thirty five years as an HR executive in a variety of organizations in health care, higher education, technology and entertainment. I bring that experience to bear in my work, especially with people who are facing discrimination or other challenges in the workplace or in their lives. I recently completed the requirements to become a Certified Diversity Executive and am very active locally in efforts related to equity and inclusion.
My approach to counseling is to make it client-centered, allowing you to determine topics, direction and intensity of our conversations. It's never my role to evaluate or judge, but I will always share my insights and thoughts. I also will use my experience and training to develop and maintain a setting that is safe, engaging and productive as well as to create plans to achieve the goals that you have for working together.
I have my Masters in Counseling from Northern Kentucky University, an MBA from Stanford University and a BA in Secondary Education from Antioch College. I have the SHRM-SCP and SPHR HR certifications and also have a number of certifications in training programs. My pronouns are he/him/his.
