My name is Sarah. I am a Clinical Social Worker currently licensed to provide counseling in the State of Florida. I received my Master's degree in Social Work from Florida State University in 2012. I am a queer and Asian-American woman. I use she/her pronouns. I have been practicing as a counselor for the past 7 years. My experiences in counseling include diverse settings, such as substance abuse, health care, social services, and prison. I have worked with people from many different cultures and backgrounds.
My treatment philosophy builds first on safety, trust, and acceptance. I work with individuals who have experienced oppression related to race, gender identity, sexual orientation, and/or being differently-abled. I believe that as a counselor, it is important to acknowledge and treat experiences of oppression. I often ask, "how do we build on your strengths, resources, and coping skills to strengthen resilience?" I use approaches like cognitive behavioral therapy, reality therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and mindfulness.
