Geraldine Erokwu
My name is Geraldine Erokwu, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Private Practice. I obtained my undergraduate degree in Psychology and my Masters in Social Work. I have worked in residential and outpatient settings and have been fortunate to work with individuals from all walks of life and diverse populations (i.e. refugee and immigrant populations). As a result, I have also been able to give back and provide supervision to graduate level students in the same field.
I believe that clients are the experts of their lives and therapists are helpful guides. Using person-centered psychotherapy, I work collaboratively with individuals to establish ways they would like to improve their overall quality of life and address their mental health. I treat a variety of issues, including but not limited to, anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, mood disorders, and stress disorders related to work or familial conflict. I incorporate interventions like cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, solution-focused therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and strength-based techniques in treatment while simultaneously taking each clients uniqueness into consideration.
I pride myself in being culturally competent as I provide a warm, non-judgmental, light-hearted, and safe therapeutic atmosphere. I understand the value of the therapeutic relationship and the significance of choosing a therapist who best suits your needs. I have a profound love and enthusiasm for the work I do, and look forward to being part of your journey.
