Dr. Nikola Alenkin
Dr. Nikola Alenkin, LCSW, a first generation college graduate and multi-ethnic and multi-lingual has been in the field of social work for nearly 25 years. Whether working with marginalized populations in Skid Row Los Angeles or communities of color in East Los Angeles. He’s an LCSW in the state of California and supervises associate social workers towards their licensure. His clinical experience includes administration/management of programs with the public and private sector as well as delivery of direct clinical services to those most in need.
He is also an educator of social work, psychology, and child and family studies for the past 20+ years. He works not only within communities but also conducts research and is a sought after speaker in the areas of stress and coping, homeless population service delivery and work with specialized populations (transgendered, chronic mentally ill, prior incarcerated individuals)
He is co-founder and co-director of a community organizing and policy advocacy institute (California Organizing and Policy Institute) and devotes time to mentorship and life long learning.
His clinical style utilizes a humanistic approach with an emphasis on the recovery model and trauma informed care. He has completed trainings in various modalities including; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing and Enhancement.
He is compassionate, and his work focuses on helping those in need achieve well-being and attainment of their goals without judgement.
