Dr. LaTanya Alicia Takla
I am a dually Licensed Marriage and family therapist (LMFT) and Professional Clinical Counselor in (LPCC) in California. I have a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology and a Doctorate of Education in Counseling Psychology (EdD). I have been a licensed mental health provider for over a decade and work with a broad spectrum of clients within communities of color. In addition to my clinical practice I am an Associate Professor at the University of Phoenix and teach in their Master’s in Professional Counseling Program.
In my private practice, I am the Director of Spark Center's Inclusive Mental Health Initiative. In my work at Spark I facilitate trainings for therapists who work with ethnic minorities as well as provides consultation for ethnic minority therapist. I also provide several groups and workshops for the unique needs of my clients including Healing from Race-Based Trauma and Stress; Black Women's Support Group “In my feelings” as well as a Black Male Support Group “Walk a mile in my shoes”. I am passionate about providing culturally informed and responsive services for ethnic minorities. I aim to promote therapeutic environments that foster awareness and encourage equitable participation of all groups; while seeking to address and acknowledge issues of oppression, privilege, and power. I'm a collaborative, interactive, solution-focused therapist who will provide structured, compassionate support and practical feedback to help you effectively address life challenges. We'll work together to develop a plan tailored to your strengths and needs so you can achieve the personal growth you want.
